Mr. Chad Thomas, Principal
I am honored and excited to lead and serve alongside the outstanding teachers and staff at NCHS. Trojan Nation is filled with history, tradition, and a supportive community that has been built upon years of excellence in so many areas. My philosophy is simple…Lead, Support, Inspire, and Work Hard. I anxiously await seeing, hearing, and living all of what Trojan Nation is about, as well as partnering with our entire school community to enhance the great opportunities that Northwest provides for our students.
I received my Bachelor of Science Degree in Health and Physical Education from Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania and move to Charlotte to play Rugby and start my teaching career. After a few years of teaching, I was selected as a Principal Fellow at UNC Charlotte and earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration and as a Curriculum Instructional Specialist. I have served public schools locally as a teacher, assistant principal, and currently starting my 20th year as a Principal at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. My wife Jill teaches Kindergarten at Davidson K-8 and we have two sons, Hunter and Corey. In addition, we have two Golden Retrievers named Tucker and Rugby. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, which includes golf, hunting, traveling, watching my beloved Steelers, or just relaxing on the porch.
Ms. Ashley Blackwell, Assistant Principal
Trojan Nation! I am so excited to be part of the welcoming students and staff at Northwest Cabarrus High School! I earned a Bachelor of Science from Philadelphia University (Thomas Jefferson University) and played college lacrosse. I then attended the University of Georgia and earned another Bachelor’s in Exceptional Children. I also went to Walden University, and achieved a Master’s in Mathematics Education and UNCC for a Master’s in Educational Administration.
I was at Harris Road Middle School as a math teacher for 11 years and then Cox Mill High School for 5 years as a math teacher, MTSS coach, and Principal Intern. In my free time, I love being with my family, friends, and my twins, Kendall and Bryson. I also enjoy spending time on the lake, being outside, and watching Philadelphia sports!
I am looking forward to an awesome school year!
Mr. Edward Bui, Assistant Principal
Hello Trojan Nation! I am very excited to be a part of the Northwest Cabarrus High School family this school year. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from the University of Maine and Master’s in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. After 11 years of teaching and coaching in New Hampshire and South Carolina, I transitioned to administration as an Assistant Principal the last two years. Outside of school, I enjoy anything relating to history, sports, and traveling with my wonderful wife, Alicia.
I will be the administrator for students with last names H-N and I look forward to having a great year together!
Mr. Mark Lowry, Assistant Principal
Hello Trojans! I am very excited to be joining all of you! I earned my bachelor’s degree as well as my Master’s degree from UNCC. I began my educational career as a middle school math teacher in CMS. I started in Cabarrus County as an Assistant Principal intern at Cox Mill High School in 2009. I was hired there the following year and spent the next 13 years as a Charger. I am excited to begin my new role as a NWCHS Trojan and look forward to meeting everyone and working to support our students, teachers, and staff.
