ALL 10th grade students at NCHS must take the Pre-ACT on WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 6th, 2024.

THERE ARE MANY DIFFERENT EXAMS STUDENTS WILL EXPERIENCE OVER THEIR FOUR-YEAR TENURE AT NORTHWEST CABARRUS HIGH.  WE WOULD LIKE TO HIGHLIGHT SOME OF THOSE HERE AND PROVIDE ADDITIONAL RESOURCES TO LEARN MORE ABOUT EACH INDIVIDUAL TEST. AS ALWAYS, PLEASE CONTACT YOUR COUNSELOR WITH ANY QUESTIONS OR CONCERNS.   BELOW YOU WILL FIND INFORMATION ABOUT THE FOLLOWING EXAMS:

STATE EXAMS:

• END OF COURSE EXAMS (EOC)= BIOLOGY, ENGLISH II, MATH 1, AND MATH 3 COURSES.

2024-2025 Exam Schdule 

• PSAT/NMSQT: OCTOBER 16^th & 17^th 2024 (optional exam for sophomores and juniors offered here at NCHS)   
• Pre-ACT (ALL 10th grade): November 6^th 2024
• Fall ACT Workkeys: NOVEMBER 2024 (seniors who have completed/or will complete a 2nd level/advanced course in a Career Pathway and are designated by NCDPI as being required to test).
• 1^st Semester Fall Exams & EOC’s: DECEMBER 16^th - 20^th , 2024 (1^st period exams 12/16, 2^nd period exams 12/17, 3^rd period exams 12/18, 4^th period exams 12/19 and any make-ups on 12/20)
• ACCESS Testing: JAN. – FEB. 2025 (for English Language Learners)
• ACT (ALL 11th graders): MARCH- APRIL 2025 (specific dates will be communicated closer to the spring semester)
• Advanced Placement (AP) Exams: MAY 5^th – MAY 16^th 2025 (students enrolled in AP courses)
• Spring ACT Workkeys (seniors): February 2025 (seniors who have completed a 2nd level course in a career pathway as designated by NCDPI and did not test during the Fall 2024 testing window).
• 2^nd Semester Spring Exams & EOC’s: MAY 15^th - 21^st  , 2025 (1^st period exams 5/15, 2^nd period exams 5/16, 3^rd period exams 5/19, 4^th period exams 5/20 and any make-ups on 5/21) Please note: the testing windows closes on the last day of school, 5/21/25, any and all missed exams must be completed by 5/21/25.
• SAT (CollegeBoard) - Students must signup and register through CollegeBoard at SAT Website. The SAT is optional and students test outside of school on Saturdays. The SAT will be offered here at NCHS on Oct. 5^th , Nov. 2^nd , Dec. 7^th , and May 3^rd 2025

Classes that are not required to take a state EOC or CTE assessment will be required to take a teacher-made final exam. Seniors may exempt teacher-made exams if the criteria stated in the exam exemption section below are met.

In order to exempt an exam:

Please note that this exemption policy does not apply to EOC or AP Courses. 

1. SENIOR - You must be a senior.
2. COURSE GRADE - You must have a grade of 80 or better when 1st and 2nd nine-week grades are averaged together for that class.
3. ATTENDANCE - You must not have more than 3 absences in that class.
4. DISCIPLINE - You must not have served in ISS or OSS the entire year.  (Check with the ILC to confirm this).

TESTING ACCOMMODATIONS

Accommodations for the PSAT, SAT, ACT, and Advanced Placement (AP) exams must be submitted and approved by the testing company. Please note that a student having an IEP or a 504 plan does NOT automatically qualify them for accommodations in these exams.

College Board Assessments (PSAT, SAT, AP Exams) 

To request accommodations, please complete the CollegeBoard-Consent Form for Accommodations Request and/or  ACT Consent Form for Accommodations and return it to Ms. Mauldin in the testing office. Please be advised that it could take up to 8 weeks to receive their decision, so please plan accordingly.
