Introduction from our new Principal

Posted Date: 4/18/24 (12:08 PM)

Greetings Trojan Nation!

I wanted to briefly introduce myself and express that I am honored and excited to become a part of the strong history and passion at Northwest Cabarrus High School!  I have already started to see, hear, and understand why NCHS is a special place that provides students with outstanding opportunities to not only showcase their talents, but also develop as future ready leaders.  I have been an educator for the past 28 years and a Principal for the last 19 years.  Overall, I’m a pretty simple guy who functions with a few straightforward goals each day…Lead by example, Support with high expectation, Inspire innovation and creativity, and Work Really Hard!  I try not to veer from these, nor the mantra of being better than I was yesterday.  I was able to visit NCHS on Wednesday and spoke with the outstanding teachers and staff that have helped shape the wonderful culture at NCHS.  Over the next few months, I plan to meet with students, staff, parents, and community members as part of my transition to NCHS.  My desire is to understand the culture of Northwest, learn about the great programs, and experience the opportunities that Northwest provides for students.  Finally, I am eager to join Trojan Nation and look forward to working collaboratively with students, staff, and families to enrich and expand opportunities for our future leaders.

I hope to meet many of our families over the next few months and wanted to provide a little information about myself and my family.  I was raised in Pennsylvania on a Dairy Farm, completed my undergraduate degree at Slippery Rock University in 1995, and Master’s Degree at UNCC in 1999.  I played Rugby in college, support the Pittsburgh Steelers, and will often be seen in Wolfpack Red. I met my wife Jill in 1997, a Kindergarten Teacher for the past 29 year, and we will celebrate our 25th anniversary this July.  We have two sons; Hunter is 23, graduated from Western Carolina University, and now works for a Minor League Baseball Team. Corey is 19 and a freshman at Appalachian State University.  We live in Cornelius with our two Golden Retrievers named Tucker and Rugby.

My official first day as Principal at Northwest will be Monday, June 3, 2024.  Please feel free to contact me by email as needed at chad.thomas@Cabarrus.k12.nc.us. I look forward to meeting all of the families at Northwest as we continue the traditions and success that is Trojan Nation!

Warmest regards,

Chad Thomas

Future Principal of NCHS
